The Best

So far this year I have been to five weddings. Beauty abounded at each.  Satin dresses, memorable music, and awe inspiring settings that included mountains, a cathedral, and a spectacular lake view.  My favorite moments were the exchange of vows written by the bride and groom themselves. The Pursuit of Justice

This week I had the pleasure of attending the ceremony held each year for new lawyers being admitted to practice law in Nebraska.  Our very own, Angela Terry, graduated from Creighton University Law School in May, successfully passed the bar examination in July and officially became a licensed attorney this week.  She, along with the other new lawyers, promised to support the United States Constitution, the Constitution of our state and to execute their duties as a lawyer to the best of their abilities.  They promised to pursue justice and to support their clients. Forgiving Flowers

I love art and I love fresh flowers.  On a recent Friday night I attended a reception for an artist friend. It was the opening of her new exhibit.  On this a beautiful September evening, the mood in the small gallery was high. After slowly taking in the beauty of each of the paintings, I paused to gaze at two large lovely bouquets set on either side of the wine and cheese. Hope Springs

Over Labor Day weekend I had the chance to do one of my favorite things – go to the movies.  The pick for this weekend was Hope Springs.  As a fan of all three main actors, Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, and Steve Carrell, I was very much looking forward to what I thought may be a romantic comedy with a deep story line.  I knew the story involved a couple struggling to bring their marriage back to life.  I was ill-prepared for how well done and how realistic the movie would be.
