David Pontier is a seasoned divorce, family law, and stepparent adoption attorney, known for his compassion for clients and knowledge of Nebraska family law. David frequently represents clients in military divorces, interstate custody and removal cases, and contested child support matters. As the father of two daughters, David understands firsthand the importance and impact of family law outcomes for Nebraska parents.“When people are at the roughest point in their lives with what’s most important to them at stake, they deserve top-notch advocacy together with a shoulder to lean on,” David said when asked about the importance of being a family law attorney.
David has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska College of Law, and he has taught divorce seminars for other practicing Nebraska attorneys. David has authored a number of scholarly family law publications ranging in topic from Nebraska child support and custody laws to complex property division rules and military divorces, and he has argued before the Nebraska Court of Appeals. David has also been admitted to the prestigious international Order of the Coif.
David received his law degree with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law. He was an executive editor of the Nebraska Law Review, and a Marvin & Virginia Schmid Honor Scholar. David received multiple law school awards and distinctions, and he was an attorney advocate national champion and mediation national runner-up in the International Academy of Dispute Resolution National Competition. David received his Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Prior to becoming a family law attorney, David taught high school English and coached young athletes in baseball and speech.
